Salutations, one and all! I've been lurking (occasionally) on this board for several years and now would like to actually participate by posing my first question:

About six years ago I traded plants with a friend of mine - I don't remember what I gave her, but what I received were two orchids which had never thrived for her. One of them, pictured here, has bloomed at least once and sometimes twice a year for me, with the number of blooms increasing as well (five on one inflorescence right now!). Anyway, though I have six or seven of them I don't really know much about orchids. I know this plant is a Cattleya but am hoping one of you more knowledgeable folks out there might be able to tell me the species..?

Thank you so much!

Not a species but a hybrid, and impossible to reliably or responsibly ID without a tag. It looks like it could have Guarianthe (Cattleya) bowringiana in its ancestry but you'll never really get closer than that.

It is very pretty, though, and it sure looks like a happy plant.

Thanks, Nat - that at least gives me some idea what it might be!
