Jerry, mine came from Seattle orchids, so not really local, but not having any issues acclimatizing this one.

I got mine from Gold Country Orchids too and it is growing, albeit slowly. No blooms yet. I had 3 new growths over the summer - One aborted. One I broke off (I have no idea how...) and one is big fat and healthy. It I think it was in moss when I got it which means that i repotted it into fine bark. Moss is the kiss of death to me!

I am growing mine in a tiny clay pot and plan to move it into net pot or a cork slab once new growth starts in the spring. Initially I was keeping it too dry which was pointed out to me by a fellow orchid enthusiast. Once I started giving it more water, it did quite well. Now, I am misting heavily almost daily and soaking once a week or so. It seems to need that, perhaps because it is in a 2" clay pot that dries out way to fast!

I read they like to be mounted actually on the horizontal laying slab, so I did mount it this way on the cork. It is also attached to the corner of the balcony on the railing so it really does get all the rain we get in Florida, and seems not to mind it at all, so I agree with Carrie that this Cat likes to be on the moist side during the active growth. Will get less water in the winter.

Tommymiami, seeing your plant has inspired me to try a third one. Maybe I will be successful this time. I am going to try a net pot with loose sphagnum. Wish me success. Now I just need to find a plant.
