Default Cattleya perrinii
This just opened today. I thought it had aborted but was pleased to see buds last week. It's actually much brighter than in the picture.

Yes it was Laelia perrinii. Supposedly closely related to purpurata and tenebrosa.

It's lovely, it's a species not often seen in collections, especially in our part of the world.
It's on my wish list.

It smell to me like anise but thankfully not a strong smell.
