Hi Cattleya17. I was hoping for an update on your Chia Lin sheath. Mine is looking old but no sign of buds yet. I just had a hybrid with Chia Lin as one of the parents bloom. It grew a large sheath just like Chia Lin's at the same time so I hoped I would have blooms by now.

I just received one of these this year from a fellow member here on the orchid Board so it looks like I may have a hard time getting this to bloom. Keeping my fingers crossed I learn a lot from you all on how to care for it correctly.

Hey! The sheath is still green and fresh on mine. The p-bulb sheath just turned brow. And had dried out a few days ago. The p-build has fattened and split it. I remember reading somewhere that it is a indication that the p-bulb has matured. I see somewhat of a shadow in the base of my sheath that was not so evident before when I last looked last week.

I'm not going to get my hopes up because It could be nothing but ill watch and see if it really is something. That's great that the hybrid has made flowers! At least the chia Lin did not pass its fickle blooming habits on to its progeny. I hope yours and mine produce something!!!

Good to know. My growth is mature for sure. There is also a half grown new growth started. Maybe mine gave up blooming to concentrate on the new growth

Maybe the new growth will produce a sheath as well and then they will both bloom!?!? That would be awesome!

I cannot agree. I bought mine 10 months ago for a low price. It received water, fertilizer and light all over the summer and formed a fat pbulb. Actually I am happy with 2 flowers, that opened 2 days ago.
