Broughtonia sanguinea var aquinii
Here is a picture of my broughtonia sanguinea var aurea var aquinii. My mom discovered the only one to be found in the wild and she gave a division of it the Claude Hamilton who has bred them in large numbers. She lost hers and mr. Hamilton has given her one of the children that it has produced.

Beautiful color and form. I have the pink and the white that both re-bloomed early summer.

That is beautiful! I love the story behind the plant. I'm happy your mom was able to replace her plant.

Thank you for sharing.
Broughtonia is a genus we very rarely, if ever see growing in collections in our part of the world.

Very cool! I head Claude speak at the beginning of August and he spoke about how rare the aquinii version of this species is. I'm glad he was able to reproduce it and get it for everyone to enjoy!
