Default A Pot Susan Fender learning experience!

This plant was given to me, in very sorry condition, and has struggled for months and months! I've tried a variety of pots and media, all to no avail! I was about to toss it two weeks ago after seeing all the roots but one dead. I cut them all off but for the one, and mounted it...two weeks later, this is what I've found!

Terri, this was her last chance at staying alive. I'm thrilled! One of the things I've learned throughout my orchid experience is that you can't be afraid to experiment a bit...you just never know

These guys seem to be extremely hardy and resistant to most forms of killing! Great job pulling it through. What color should this be when it blooms (it will bloom, right?)

of course she's going to bloom!

I've found 2 versions of Pot Susan Fender online but I'm not sure which one mine is.

There's the one in this photo (by Greg Alikas) and another that has more yellow in plae of the orange:

Mine's less red than that although there are some reds in it. Mine's got two new growths for 2007, so does that mean potentially two spikes?

They both look great to me. I prefer the more red one but I would not turn down the orange one.

Post a pic when it blooms.

Yours is beautiful, Ross

I wouldn't be upset if mine bloomed like that
I don't know anything about the plant but with two new growths, I'd assume there is the potential for two spikes!

Nice decision.

Wow, Susanne, if yours comes out ANYTHING like the link you posted......

Ross, your photo says the plant is Titan's Fire. Was that a miss-link to a picture?

It's looking good now! They really do try hard to live, don't they? Good thing, too, from the looks of some of mine!!!
