Species from Central America, Colombia, and Venezuela
I believe this is the correct alliance for this genus ... ?
Just one tiny (1/4") - but rather charming - bloom at the moment ...
This plant was given to me in April - first flower since I have had it. I do see another bud that will likely open very soon. I'm happy to see it bloom, as I really only had the faintest notion of what it wanted It gets a very little bit of direct sun in the early evening. Sphag on the mount is dry daily, so I water it every morning. It is still getting crimped foliage, so I think I need to start misting the plant in the evening, perhaps.
Thanks for looking

Well, what I was told, and what little info I found says it's an easy plant - mostly shade, as far as light; allow to dry in-between waterings; and cool to hot growing according to IOSPE.
Its a beautiful flower. The plant looks like mounted grass....I can imagine when it becomes a large specimen =the flowers will have a wonderful display.
I have this one...been growing it since '09, or maybe it was '10. I know who I got it from and where I picked it up...I just don't remember the exact year right now.
I have it outside for the summer and it gets watered every day. Catt level light w/some direct sun late afternoon.
In the winter I water it less (every other day or every third) but it wouldn't mind being watered every day, I'm sure. During the colder months its sits in an East facing window.
Easy grower and very reliable bloomer. Mine usually blooms later winter/early spring.
Once it gets some size on it...it'll take off like a weed. I've "pruned" mine a couple of times to keep it in check and it didn't skip a beat.
You don't see them too often. I think it looks more like bamboo than grass. Cute little thing.
