That's an impressive plant, Mauro! I too would be interested in some advice on growing it, or possibly any in situ information? This is a favorite of mine, just bloomed in January, but it is slow growing and blooms one at a time...

Sorry, Claudia, I hadn't seen your post before.

Pat, Claudia, I grow it along with my bifoliate Cattleya. The general care is the same. I have mine planted in tree fern fiber to provide good drainage. This plant likes good air humidity; also, it appreciates bright winters with a little less luminosity during summer. In the wild in the region this plant occurs there's little or no cloud at all during the winter months, so the luminosity is high. It does not rain during winter, but the Araguaia River provides good humidity. It is found exclusively near this River or its tributaries, preferring the thin branches in bright positions not far from the watercourse. The summer rains trigger the flowering period. Little rain during summer may delay or even do not trigger the flower period. I keep mine always humid (not wet), increasing watering by the middle of spring until the flowers appear.
Hope this can be of some help. If you need anything else just let me know.
