Just my opinion...the Volcano Blue is the closest to "blue." All are beautiful, however! BettyE.

My favorite "blue" is LC. Canhamiana 'Azure Skies' AM/AOS.

It is a strong grower that blooms in the early summer with a light scent.

Google up some images of this plant and you will fall in love!

Thanks.Very pretty images in Google. Looks like a big Cattleya. Apparently smells very good. Hmm...tempting. I got to look into it. However, it looks a lot like my Lc. C G Roebling coerula 'Beechview' which also smells very nice.

Well, they both share L. purpurata as a parent, so the overall flower shape is very much alike with the purple blue lip.

The main difference is that C G Roebling coerula has almost white petals while Canhamiana Azur Sky clone has light blue purple petals. Some clones has deeper blue than others.

Regarding plant size, Canhamiana stays quite small.
It rarely goes taller than about 15 in, and all the growth develop very close to one another making a tight clump. very good trait I think.

BTW, how often does your C G Roebling flower?
