Cattleya dowiana
I bought this from the Tropical Orchid Farm in Hawaii many years ago. This is its first blooming. I've never seen one of these in person until now. A photograph cannot capture the beauty of the flowers and I cannot describe the amazing scent except to say that it's probably one of the best floral fragrances I've ever experienced.

Thank you! I don't think that it's the Rosita form, but it is darker than some other clones of the normal type.
I grow it in a spare bedroom under LED lights (100 watt fixture about 6 inches from the tips of the leaves), 75F during the day and 60F at night in winter but summers 10-15F higher, fertilize with urea-free fertilizer at 125-150 ppm per week and allow it to dry out in the winter.

Beautiful and an especially big bloom for its first! Great growing and that looks like a really nice shape for this species.

Gorgeous and you got a really nice photo. I bought one from H & R this winter so I hope I will eventually see this kind of display!
