Default Encyclia edithiana

This is a small plant from the State of Amazon, Brazil, as recently discovered as eleven years ago. The flowers are perfumed and produced on a slender, arching stem. I grow mine for years and the plant is not higher than 6".

Seven or eight flowers was the best my plant did. I don't know about other clones, since it is still seldom seen in collections or shows, but I heard that it can produce more than this. Peter, my plant does not branch, but again I can't say whether this is or not the regular behavior of the species. Sorry the lack of precision, but other plants are not commonly seen for comparison.

Diane, almost all of the orchids shown in my photo album are grown in 2 small 8 x 8 greenhouses. Mostly mini's so i can fit a lot in there!
Thanks for the compliment!
Peter.

Mauro, Another beautiful encyclia. You certainly know the way to grow them! I love the small size of this one but won't buy any more until I learn how to take care of the encyclias that I have!
