Nope, it's stupidity. I know because I'm the poster child for the American Nation Stupidity Network.

Goodgollymissmolly, you have a wonderful orchid there!
How long have you had that plant? It looks so massive! I just got mine last year and I deemed it fairly large, but yours would be three of mine....at least! Beautiful colors! Love it. kiki-do

Actually it's KHill's plant that is massive. Mine is fairly small. Ours has been here about a year. It was pretty small when we got it. Grows well. This is the first time it has bloomed.

Thanks all--I actually bought the plant almost that large. I purchased it in July and it put out quite a few new shoots over the summer. I was quite excited when it bloomed so nicely for me.

All of yours should reach a large size fairly quickly I would think. It seems to be a very vigorous orchid.

Don't despair! Ours didn't bloom for almost 24 months after we rescued it from a friend who gave up on all his plants (I know - how can you give up on all your orchids!!!?). When we got it there were mealy bugs and scale all over it. We carefully stripped it down to bare root, dunked the whole plant in a solution of insecticidal soap (roots and all), cleaned the leaves with alcohol and then repotted. I guess we did something right - we now have 5 inflorescences with about 30 flowers in all. A lovely show.

It's the strangest though it is fragrant but it seems like it's aroma is every other day, not sure I understand that one, but when it's fragrant it feels the room.

Thanks for looking ..

This is a night scenting variety. Smell it first thing in the morning (around 5 am or so). Mine is about 3 weeks from blooming. I can't wait!
