Cattleya intermedia (v. coerulea) in bloom
Species from Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina
Purchased a few years ago as a large seedling/nbs - blooming now for the second time.
Very big blooms (4 1/2") for the size of the plant.
The tallest pbulb (the one now blooming) is 5 1/2", with leaves just over 4".
Thanks for looking

Very nice blooms. I have several seedlings of this species so I can't wait for them to bloom.

Very nice specimen, clean shape and good colour. For all it's held out to be an easy species, it's the one I've had the most problems with, even more difficult than dowiana.

Specimen is a plant that's much larger than ones the average hobbyist can grow.
Give it heavy water, and then allow it to dry out hard before watering again. Fertilize heavily when in active growth. After flowering, withhold water and fertilizer for several weeks while the plant rests. Since the roots need to dry, this is a species which is well suited to mounting or basket culture.
