laelia purpurata (first bloom) Male
Default laelia purpurata (first bloom)

this is a seedling that was sold to me as a laelia crispa (cattleya) but it turned out to be a purpurata.

plant is really vigorous, bloomed on all the 3 fronts for the first time with 7 flowers (5 still in bud (3+2), but opening today)

the flowers are a bit small, but i think its normal, as most Cattleya/laelia first time bloomers usually show up with smaller flowers.

i do love the veins of this one to be lightly colored, with the solid lip, makes it a interesting plant. not the best, but interesting nonetheless . i like the shape on this one. i look forward for second round.

Looks like a good purpurata. Do you have any idea who bred it?

EOoM does some really good in-house breeding. I'd say this is a good mistake!

I wouldn't be too disappointed to find such a flower 'by mistake' in my collection! Beautiful!
