Beautiful plant. I am not a fan of Epis but I like yours.
One of my neighbor has 3- 4 epis in ground all year here. They are always in heavy bloom. I do not know the variety but they have orange blooms and seem to be a variety commonly found at garden centers.
So ,they seem pretty resilient.

My friend sent this one to me yesterday. I cannot put it outside as I am having a war with large 4", black crunchy grasshoppers. if I grow this indoors, do you think a southeast window with no direct sun, or a west window with several hours of dappled sun? Or neither?

The reed-stem Epidendrums need lots of light, including at least some direct sun each day.

As much sun as you can give it Mine did just sort of 'ok', bloomwise when it got some direct mid-afternoon sun, but when I moved it to where it got several, to many hours of direct sun, it really started to go crazy with the blooms. It has not been out of bloom for a few years now, tho in winter (when it gets little direct sun), it may only have a few blooms at a time).

Thanks Shannon, leafmite
The original post/photo of this is from a couple of years ago - it's been non-stop blooming since then
