Default Laelia speciosa Peloric form "hansel"

this is a wild plant discovered some 14 months ago, it carries my son name, in honor to the joy and happines he has bring to my wife and myself.

this one is the darkest ones i ha seem, . flower is still opening. so it is a matter of time before this one turns even more darker (it opened today) and the lip opens fully.

it has a really dark magenta color on it, hard to capture it with my camera, and my white plastic background of my greenhouse walls, the flower measured some 16 cm across.

here are the pics.

Antonio, I'm really curious to see how this flower matures. I normally find peloric flowers unattractive but this one looks REALLY nice!! And I've never said that about a peloric!

this plant is quite special, the color is extremely dark, i will take more pictures tomorrow and see how dark did they went. and check the lip that is still a bit closed.

speciosas does have the most stricking peloric forms i have seem in the whole group. there are at least 3 more clones, that i am aware of.

"Hansel" has two leads, and it is forming buds on the other one as well .

Thanks

Antonio.
