I just bought this a couple of months ago and it just finished blooming. Just noticed what looks like a flower trying to open within the pseudobulb. Can anyone comment on what causes this? Thanks
Very likely you will see -- if you peel back the papery leaf sheath (the brown papery material covering the base of the leaf where it and the flower stem join the pseudobulb) -- that you will find the flower stem is kinked ... literally bent in two. My suspicion, though I have no proof, is that this occurs when the plant did not have quite enough water during bud development.
