Default Encyclia Cochleata Spike?

I have an encyclia that I believe is going to bloom. I am new in 2014 to actively collecting orchids, and have already killed a Laelia seedling, so I would like to make sure I'm not imagining things..

I think I need a few more posts...

that is a spike for sure, the yellow part, i cant see that in mines, is bud blasting?

the way you have your plants is a great idea, just keep in mind that some orchids might require higher light levels, the green seems too dark for some plants, (might be the photo.) i think a bit of extra light with do great for them.

Cheers!

Antonio.

It's a spike for sure but the yellowing is not a good sign. The cattelya need more light, but looks ok on the driftwood u have.

That is what I'm afraid of. It gets the most sun I think I can offer it for now. Direct early day sun through about lunchtime... Maybe as the days get longer it'll help? Thank you for the advice!
