Wow, those lava rock pics are showing some really amazing results. What size is that clear pot in the last pic?

It's a 4-inch diameter pot. I know, right? It seems to love the clear plastic pot/lava rock combo. I guess it's also important to consider that this was, by far, the largest seedling out of the flask—four inches tall when others were teeny-tiny. Some good genes right there (I have no idea what I'm talking about ).

And on that note, you spoke earlier about alba, semi-alba, etc plants, and I think this could be one of those because it shows very little purpling in the roots and leaves compared to its siblings. (Again, no idea )

Thanks for sharing! This is really interesting and helpful even though I don't have seedlings from a flask or anything like that I did just get some Catt hybrids that are basically seedlings, couple to several years from growing and they are definitely firsts for me. So far I've left them in the teeny tiny pots they came in but following along with you I wonder then if they should actually be repotted.

So thanks!

The seedlings were taken out of the aquarium and out of the lights about 4 weeks ago. They sat in a windowsill receiving morning sunshine and slightly drier conditions. They have all been strong through this transition and many are showing new growth.

A few days ago, I felt brave enough to take them outside. So far, so good. Ideally I will leave them out all summer, carefully monitoring moisture levels, of course. As of now they are getting sprayed with the hose every afternoon. Quite a change from the smothering they received when I first got them!

Wow so jealous! How often are you watering the seedlings in the lava rock? Thanks

I was soaking their roots daily but it looks like this could be too much for them at the moment. Will post pics tomorrow.

Well I lied. The weather was stormy today and looks to be this way for the next few. Will post an update whenever it is not thundering outside!
