Brassavola Species ID challange
Default Brassavola Species ID challange

Hey OrchidBoard,

So I have a bit of a challenge for any of those on the forums that consider themselves a Brassavola expert. Attached are some photos of a piece of a Brassavola that I got from my mother. She *swears* that it's B. nodosa, but when you compare it to true B. nodosa, it is obvious even to a layman that they are two different species. After some research, I think I have narrowed it down to either B. flagellaris or B. cucullata. It will be quite obvious to tell them apart when it blooms, but until then, is there any way to know? I'm hoping some orchid expert here will be able to ID it from the roots and single pseudobulb and leaf it has (but it is happy, and growing more as I write).

I'm looking forward to your input,
CJ
