Default Epidendrum Lakeview Red in bloom

Finally! This is another I have had a few years, blooming for the first time in my care. Every year or so, there would be some issue that prevented blooming (insufficient light, cold water sitting in the top of new growth overnight during chilly temps, etc ...)

This has a tag with the name Lakeview Red - alas, there are no Epidendrums Lakeview, or Lake View, registered with the RHS

Anyway ... Blooms are a nice size, about 2", and VERY BRIGHT red with yellow lip.

Potted in a plastic pot, CHC mix. I try to keep the potting mix from drying out. Spring through Autumn, grown outdoors where it can get full sun all morning through mid-afternoon. Since Autumn, it has been growing in a south facing window.

Thanks for looking

I bought it too from Kawamoto. When I questioned lack of registration, Reid advised that it comes from Taiwan, and he has been unable to get parentage out of the breeder (whom he named, but I am not sure I still have the msg).

Ah, thanks for that info. I'm happy with it, registered or not. I was surprised to see there were no Lakeviews registered, as I have seen them around a fair amount.
