Bent leaves on Lc. Tropical Pointer, why? Female
Default Bent leaves on Lc. Tropical Pointer, why?

Hi all, I'm getting a little frustrated with my Lc. Tropical Pointer, every time it grows a new pseudo bulb they end up bent at the bottom of the leaf. (see picture)

It looks like the covering of the pseudo bulb prevents it from growing properly but it's only been happening under my care, all of its older growths are normal. Anyone have any idea why this could be?

It also hasn't had a bloom or even a sheath since I've had it, and it's definitely bloomed before. I know it's getting enough light though...

Not sure why this happens, maybe humidity? I really don't know, I see this occasionally on the odd cattleya but it's out of the ordinary really. Maybe genetics......hopefully someone knows why.

I have had that happen to some in the greenhouse, but I really cant tell you why...it just happens....I, too, am always trying to cultivate the perfect form of the plant, but it very rarely happens, nature WILL have its way! good luck!

It's a water/humidity problem, the tissue dries and the new leaf is not strong enough to break through. I have that problem in the winter with new leads. If I see it in time I just cut a bit of the tissue and the leaf comes out fine.

Thank you! I figured it was something like that. I know it's getting plenty of water but unfortunately the humidity here isn't great and there's not much I can do about it. But I'll try cutting the tissue before this happens again and hopefully it will help.
