1st bloom Reed Stem EPI with LARGE flowers
Last year I bought 10 reed stem Epis from CalOrchids, and specified that I was looking for large flowers. I just bloomed the first one, which is:
EPI ((Pacific Smoothie x Pacific Mulberry) 'Fuchsia Fantasy' x Pacific Sunset 'Watermelon Man'). It is a large husky seedling, and the first flowers just opened.
NS 44 mm = 1.73"
TB 51 mm = 2.01"

It is going to show table at local OS on Thursday (weather permitting, they are predicting temps in the 20s). We have 2-3 AOS judges as members, so I will see what they think.

One of our AOS judges was in CA last year, where they awarded an 82 pt AM/AOS to one of CalOrchids new Epi hybrids. Mine is larger, but the color combination is not quite as attractive.
I am going to give it another year, and take it in next time it blooms.

Love the color. Very pretty. CalOrchids is a fabulous grower and good to deal with.

Another seedling (Pacific Artist 'Yellow Lip' x Pacific Frenzy 'Big Boy) is starting to open. Flowers are not quite as big, but the color is intense.
