Default New Leptotes bicolor

I got a new Leptotes bicolor. It has many growths and four of those growths have spikes and buds. One pseudobulb has two leaves.

Its potted in a plastic net basket pot with charcoal, sponge rock, and some kind of bark perhaps.

What culture does this species prefer?

Like Cattleyas. I bought several last year, and mounted them on bark with a bit of spaghnum moss to protect existing roots. In the greenhouse they took off with that treatment (watering once a week).

I just got my Leptotes bicolor too. It was a tiny thing in a 2 inch pot. I immediately repotted and put it under the dappled shade of a big oak with my species Catts. Thats been about 2 weeks and already I see 3 spikes forming on the near microscopic plant. I think precocious would be an understatement!

The buds finally opened. I tried to post yesterday but the site wouldn't let me. Its a little different from my expectations but still love it. The lip is half white and pink-purpleish. Kind of different from the ones I have seen from different people's collections.

Careful. These are fun plants. I just found out there are others in the same species and want them all. Harryphillipsii is my next one if I can ever find it.

They are really an adorable orchid. I'm quite pleased to have found one at our show.

Andy's is probably the only commercial vendor who has them for now. Named after his brother.

End of highjack!
