I have a plant of this cross open atm. As long as you are watering the plant regularly ( daily or every 2 days ) the drought shouldn't worry it. You are in control of the water unlike the country.
Well it's growing on a tree-stump in the garden and gets watered when I can get around to it, which can vary from daily to once a week, plus it has to deal with hot sun, very variable humidity and rapid drying after watering. Given the amount of Sophronitis in it, I'm quite impressed, it's doing better than some hybrids with more heat-tolerant species like C. aclandiae.
