Laelia tenebrosa - a matter of size...
The other day I posted a very large clone of L. tenebrosa, but pictured alone it is not easy to evaluate the flower size. Now, I put it side by side with a regular one for a comparison. It speaks for itself.

Thank you for posting this picture, the larger flower also looks like it has more colour intensity. I believe I read somewhere that the plants can get very sizable with maturity, and you mentioned that the other one was big. I'm wondering just how big that would be? I would really love to add one to my collection, once I've mastered the trick to growing the Laelia's & Cattelya's I have already.

Barbara, this plant can easily reach 40-50cm high when fully mature and will need a 15-17cm wide pot, at least.

Is there a possibility that this flower is a tetraploid? Many cattleya species have been converted to increase the size, substance and color intensity.

I don't believe it is a tetraploid, Phantasm. It is not a slow grower, leaves aren't any thicker, flower substance is also normal. It is just large, very large.
