Where or how to find?
Default Where or how to find?

I am looking for a few specific cattleya varieties but can't seem to find them using local sources. Does anyone have a suggestion as to who I should contact to be able to add these plants to my collection?

What specific orchids are you looking for? Also where do you live? If you live in Florida or Southern California there are a lot of local growers. Otherwise there are many online vendors that specialize in certain orchids. Post a list of what you want and maybe someone can guide you to the right vendor.

Thanks for your suggestions. I tried many of the well known growers but probably because I didn't know the full and correct latin name of some of the cats I am interested in, I couldn't find the plants in their on-line catalogs.

To name a few: C. Eleanor Roosevelt, C. Bess Truman, C. Hawaiian Wedding Song.

I live in the Pacific Northwest, home of few commercial growers.

Carter and Holmes Orchids has C. Hawaiian Wedding Song. C. Bess Truman is a very old hybrid that may be difficult to find. I couldn't find it. C. Eleanor Roosevelt sounds like an old hybrid but it was actually registered by A. Chadwick in 2012. You can try emailing or calling him at Chadwick and Sons Orchids.

Ask the Chadwick's about the Bess Truman too. They know the history, and may have been in on the making of the hybrid.

Can't hurt.

Chadwick and Sons has both. They have been naming cattleyas after first ladys since the 30's I think. And many movie stars. Hauserman has Hawaiian Wedding Song.
