BLC Pink Empress in bloom!
This has been quite a wonderful surprise! I have been watching it open for the last 2 days. It is about 7 inches wide, and a deep fuchsia pink (it looks slightly more purple in the photo) with a glowing orange throat with a darker streak of maroon. I had no idea it was going to be as large or beautiful! Wow, now I am an even bigger fan of Cattelyas. I even have another spike forming in a sheath.

What a gorgeous flower. I love the color and form. Its as if there is a flickering candle at the center. If you give it more humidity you might get a whiff of fragrance. That flower has a sweet floral scent all day long....this will get bigger and flatter in the next blooming cycle; I wont be surprised if you get an 8 inches diameter flower next time.
