Aren't Schomburgia and Myrmecophilia both feminine? So a she/her would be more appropriate than he/him?
<jk>
However it does seem right to refer to this 4 wheel drive Orchid as a he/him. Other wise you might need to name her Myrmecophilia tibicinis 'Helga' or perhaps Myrmecophilia tibicinis 'Nurse Ratched'.

Yes, feminine. Btw exact spelling is Schomburgkia with k and Myrmecophila without last i.

I would also say fry "him" !
Maybe he was used to shadier conditions before you got him and he's a bit put out you didn't acclimatise him ?

I have one of these and a thomsoniana, and I keep on a southern windowsill all winter and then cook them in the greenhouse in summer full sun.

The thomsonian pb's are a nice purple colour, the tibicinis is a light greeny yellow.
They grow fast, hoping they might flower this year.
