Default Laelia anceps var. oaxacana

Laelia anceps inhabits both sides of the Sierra Madre in the South of Mexico. Here we find in altitudes between 700 and 1800 meters the unique Madrean Pine-Oak Woodlands with a high number of endemic species, for me the true Treasures of the Sierra Madre. In wintertime temperatures may fall close to the freezing point, in summertime temps may reach 30°C.
Living on both sides, Laelia anceps is sometimes separated in a subspecies anceps from the eastern slopes, and a subspecies dawsonii from the western mountain range, the Sierra Madre Occidental and Sierra Madre del Sur, on the slopes stretching down to the Pacific ocean.
The oaxacana variety belongs to the dawsonii forms.
I bought this plant one year ago with fading flowers, but the high quality of flowers could still be seen.
Important for flowering success is as much light as possible during the dark months of winter. I took the photo in the early morning light.

This looks like a great variety of this species! I didn't realize that anceps was often broken into several subspecific categories. Thanks for the post!
