Cattleytonia Joy Bassin 'Laina'

I was amazed when I found out that Broughtonia sanguinea pollen was brought onto a Cattleya amethystoglossa flower to make this cross. I wouldn't have guessed the other parent.
The plant grows for me much better in a pot than mounted.

Lovely flowers with shimmering petals=the colors are breathtaking....the plant is robust and healthy= the leaves have the sheen and correct green coloring.

I'm going to have to try some of these Cattleya hybrid cousins. They look really interesting and beautiful.

Broughtonia tends to have a very dominant influence on flower form. (At least in any cross I have ever seen.)
