No, my partner is, and I'd been there before we met. Beautiful country and really fascinating flora.

Really, I'm Colombian, born in Cali. Haven't been back in 19 years.
Would love to go back for the plants and birds.

One of our friends is from Cali (haven't been there myself yet). I hope you can get back there, so much to see and do! I loved Medellín, what a fantastic gardening climate it has, and a very nice city, with great public transportation. And, I'd really love to spend about a month at Parque Tayrona in those Ecohabs, only spent one night there because they were all reserved, so hopefully next time I can stay longer.

Loved the amazing variety of birds I saw there, too. It was nice to go to a country where everyone seemed happy. Hope to be back next year.

Now that song "Cali, Cali, Cali" is going through my head! LOL

Take any pics???
Medellin is known as the city of eternal spring. It has a very equitable climate, where temperatures (hovering around the mean temp of the earth, 57 F), and rain fall does not change through the season. I believe the closest thing to that here is San Diego???

Medellin does not have as low a temperature as we get in San Diego, nor as high, plus it gets a lot more rainfall, but as far as the continental US goes, that's probably the closest climate to Medellín's. I'd say parts of Maui and the Big Island in Hawaii have a climate almost identical to Medellin. Even though they're just under 5000' in elevation, they have coconut trees and other plants that cannot sustain the winter we get in San Diego (sure wish we could grow Coconuts here, we can grow Royal Palms, though, and a huge number of orchids live outdoors year-round here). I did take lots of pictures in Medellin, but I did not get to do one of the main things I wanted to do, which was go to the botanic garden (where they have that fantastic orchid collection), our time was so limited I had to choose between Parque Arvi or the botanic garden, so went to Arvi. If you get a chance to go to Medellin, take it. Great food, beautiful city, great climate and super-friendly people.
