So do these bloom once a year in temperate zone??
I got mine in bloom exactly a year ago. It grew and grew (tripled in size now!) and starting the summer, there were some sheaths that grew spikes, but then they would all stop and die.

I finally see about three skinny spikes growing normally.

I got all excited reading this thread and how B. Little stars is supposed to bloom this time of year. I went and checked my B. Little Stars (a Lowe's rescue) and lo and behold, it has 2 tiny spikes just peaking out!

Its so great when one of your rescues give you spikes, mine also came from lowes and now I'm checking lowes once a week to see what else I can find.
