In Ecuador I've seen blooming C. maxima plants on the market for 3-5 USD. They must have been grown in a nursery for at least 3-4 years. Of course the local marketers cannot give the papers needed for export.
Anyway your plant will be happy with your climatic conditions as they are adapting easily.
