I've got one thats about to bloom for the first time. Not sure if its the same as the one I have currently blooming or not. There is so much variety in this group of orchids that each new bloom is exciting!

very lovely flowers. does anyone have the alba variety? calorchid.com has those listed for good beginner orchids and i think i might get one.

I have a specimen sized cochleata 'Black Jack." So I bought an alba from Cal Orchids in Nov 2013. It has grown some new growths but no blooms yet. It is pretty small, but I think I'll get my first blooms this Spring.

That's awesome, I can't wait to get mine now. How was your experience with Cal Orchids?

I actually visited the Cal orchid Nursery and had a nice long chat with the owner (James??). He walked me through the entire greenhouse and pointed out various plants of interested and then helped me selected a few to take home (via airplane)....

still blooming. one flower on the spike started from the beggining of July

Still blooming right! looks amazing. My experience is much like yours. Mine is in blooms for about 8 months of the year. Then it has a little rest before starting the next round. It is an amazing flower producer and is always a topic of conversation when I have visitors!

Really lovely. I think mine is similar as well in that it blooms for 6-8 months, then has a rest then starts again. It was struggling for a long time so I didn't see the pattern, but it's just starting a new spike again just a few months since the last one finally finished.
