The first photo are the blooms from this October, and second photo are new blooms from now (November).
My Aunt believes the flowers have been getting more purple; she says previous bloomings were almost white and she's had it for years.

It may just be a simple case of flowers fading in colour as they age. The two pics you have posted could be flowers of a different stage of flowering. See if this flowering fades as it ages.

These are definitely new flowers on a different pseudobulb - the flowers from October dried and fell off.
I agree with Katrina, my experience has been that temperature can affect the color of some orchids more than anything else. But if you think there's more than one orchid in the pot, then it could be sibling difference also.
