Dimerandra emarginata
One species of this genus is widespread in the neotropics from Mexico to Brazil, but uncommon in collections. It is Dim. emarginata. The other one is probably extremely rare and limited to Mexico, it is Dimerandra longicaule.
I lately bought this plant from a friend, who raised it from seed, so I earn no merits. It is compact, not more than 20 cm tall, I didn't notice a scent.

I know it's not the same species but I killed a Dimerandra stenopetala and I never did figure out what I was doing wrong.

I think that stenopetala and elegans are synonymous to emarginata. I will grow it under standard Cattleya conditions or more exactly like medium sized Cattleya seedlings.

Thanks for the info. It sounds like my cultural conditions were correct...maybe it was just a weak seedling. I'll have to give it another go...see if I can get better results next time. Thanks! |
