Cattleya Fire Magic 'Solar Flare' - first bloom
I got this three years ago, thrown in as a freebie in an order from Marble Branch Orchids. Based upon it's pedigree, Cattleya Tokyo Magic (Lc. Irene Finney x L. briegeri) x Slc Cattleya Fire Fantasy, I figured it would tolerate cooler outdoor temps in winter here in So Cal. It's been hanging on, gradually getting bigger and this week it finally bloomed, very striking flowers. Hopefully it grows bigger and better next year.

A perfectly named orchid. The red markings are intense.

I was gonna say that it looked like my Tokyo Magic. Very nice though!! [/FONT]

July 2014 update, one year later - five blooms
This orchid has had another year to get established and it is rewarding me now with a cluster of 5 blooms. A very colorful display.
