Can I save this baggie plant??

I think it looks very saveable.
I personally would go for it. But it might be worth your money to return it and get a better one.

Are you going to pot it out mount it?

If you pot it I would go with a very chunky bark mixture.

If you mount it just tie it as is to a lovely piece of cork or wood. Or rock or whatever really....
It should put out new growth and roots within a month or so.

Just to give you hope.
This mini cattleya came with no roots whatsoever.
I've had it for a month and these have appeared. It's mounted on lava rock and gets misted multiple times a day.
It's also just started a new growth.

Cannot remember what you paid for it. But it was a Catt in a bag from a big box store. So couldn't be much. Regardless, if ya like it then try to save it.

I've paid a lot more for a catt, and done pretty serious damage to it by my own lack of knowing what I was doing. Looked just as bad, or worse.

'tis good to experiment, and figure out what you can and cannot do/tolerate. The ones who love ya will stick and figure it out. Caveat being, I don't know much about orchids.

I mounted it on a stick. LOL I took the picture of the orchid while on the stick. I check on it 3 times a day. The roots are getting stronger. It feels firmer in between my fingers and the roots look greener.

I am returning it today. The poor gal's roots got soft. So I decided to use a humidifier to less the stress but the roots got worse still.

I feel kinda sad. I hope this isn't what nurses feel when a patient dies.

I would go for it. Mount on a piece of wood and make sure to mist it each day to get it going. It takes a while for the wood to absorb enough water and attract the new roots. A "little bit" of sphagnum moss will hold some extra moisture. Sometimes only a few weeks sometimes a month or two. When those roots start attaching you can sit back and enjoy a job well done.
