I did exercise some restraint in posting pictures of this one, even though it doesn't look like it. I'm completely enamored of this new addition to my pack....I guess it shows

A grower friend who knows I've been on a mission to find orange mini catts gave me this one a couple of weeks ago. She bloomed soon after. Mealybugs have done a number on her foliage. I think the bugs are gone, though I'm keeping an eye on things. I'd welcome any suggestions for helping this orchid bounce back from the damage (if there happens to be any way to do that besides time)

Her parentage is complicated, and I was looking forward to telling you all about it, but that's going to have to wait til tomorrow. I took the tags out of the pot to read them, and they are temporarily MIA.

Thanks for your comments, Ron & FSU & Tucker. It's much more fun to share pictures with you than with the unwilling victims I drag into my grow area....

"unwilling victims" -this made me laugh, I can so relate. I'm pretty sure my friends can't tell my orchids from my aloe but they make the appropriate ooo noises at least....Gorgeous Plant also

Merci, dounoharm. Very informative and helpful. I have never used a systemic. Is Bayer 3 in 1 an acceptable one?
I have mites and a rot issue to address in a couple others, in addition to the mealybugs in the newcomer. ...when it rains, it pours.

My victims also figured out how to oooh and ahhh. And they have a few stock phrases they use to bail them out and get back to their own lives. 'Cool', 'That's a beauty, Mom', 'Looks a lot like it did yesterday' and 'Please, not again' are common.
