Howdy All
I have a Schomburgkia (myrmechiowhateverara) albopurpureum with six new growths this summer, but they seemed to be with sheaths -- and possibly even enlarging.

My plant was a division trade several years ago. This spring/summer was my third blooming. But it is happily filling the 8 inch pot. Now it appears to be happily enlarging sheaths.

Is this only a decoy? I can't remember, but does this make sheaths, and then rest a long time? When happy and mature, will albopurpurea bloom twice a year??

I didn't write in my log book, hence the questions.

Thanks for your considerations.

I hope you will post pictures when you have blooms. I have heard that these are beautiful. I don't know anything about them, obviously.

Myrmecophila or Schomburgkia albopurpurea is an absolut gorgeous orchid endemic to Grand Cayman Island and related to thomsoniana. I don't know about it's natural flowering season, but I think it flowers only once a year.
