C. Interglossa x self
This is my favorite plant of this cross. The blooms are like those of C. Penny Kurda which is important for breeding.

great looking color on that one pheli.
Let me ask bec it becomes a point in breeding, but do the petals reflex on this one all the time? Some naturally reflex back and its hard to get people to understand the natural shape of some of them. Judges knock flowers down for this reflexing attitude. It doesnt bother me as its a wonderful flower, but I am curious.

Several years ago, a local nursery made this cross, C. Interglossa x self. Most of these seedlings have bloomed these years and they are quite different in the shape and colors. The splash-petal ones are usually reflex in nature. Hence, it is lucky to pick some flat or naturally opened blooms form these seedlings. |

Wow! Spectacular! I'm not so familiar with Catts, but are flowers like this considered peloric? (Phals, is what I'm kinda thinking of, only b/c that is what I'm familiar with). In breeding them, is that (going for the peloric mutation) how u get petals like this, or is it just something that Catt petals do (ie being so different from the sepals)? (am I making myself clear? Lol)

Mary, some species have peloric varieties which is adopted to breed these crosses. Take the cross, C. Interglossa for example, one parent, C. intermedia, has the aquinii variety which is used to creat peloric cattleyas.
