Smile Caularthron bicornutum

I saw a picture of a Caularthron bicornutum at some stage and that made me immediately put it on the wishlist. When I happened to find it on a nursery list just some months later, I just HAD to get one.

It's not the biggest flower and it does not have the most amazing colour combinations, perhaps. But it has clean lines and classic elegance that appeals to me.

Caularthron bicornutum is an epiphytic/lithophytic species from South America. It is warm to hot growing and flowers in late winter to spring. It is supposed to be fragrant, but mine is not yet scented. Maybe it will be in a few days as the flowers mature.

This is the first time this plant flowers for me. I've only had it since May 2013.

I agree with you about the clean lines. I like it for the same reason.

I have the plant that was crossed with a cattleya and it reduced the flower count but made for an interesting flower. I will post as picture of it in a separate thread.
