Default BLC Cornerstone "Fine Circle" in Sheath!

I am so thrilled.
This is my absolute favorite magenta colored large flowering cattleya I got in bud last fall.
It grew a new pb shortly after finishing the bloom, but with my lazy watering (I water everything so generously but with cattleya, I'm poor, don't know why), it didn't mature well. plus, the light wasn't good enough.
The leaf itself was nice and big, but the pb was no where near the previous one. and of course, there was no sheath, which didn't surprised me, although I was being very hopeful.

Well, I thought I would keep the plant anyway since I liked the flowers so much. Early summer, two very promising new shoots started. They were both very big even at such early stage. I was again being very hopeful with good reason this time.

Well, now I see a sheath poking out of the folded new leaf on one pb, and the other pb while not shown in the picture is also sending up a sheath.

Sooooo excited!!!!
Now I hope these will not end up one of those empty sheaths that produce nothing.

I'm including a flower picture from last September.

Beautiful color, huge and fragrant!

Very nice flower. The sheath I can see looks very promising. Usually if it is a blind sheath it is more slender. The color (although on my monitor that could be different) looks a little dark. These should be lighter in color. Remember that these are grown very warm with high light levels and lots of air flow. Like a small hurricane. Here's hoping (fingers, eyes, and toes crossed Ow!).

It is probably my photo quality as well. I took the pictures while the plant was being soaked in the tub and the lighting in my bathroom is not good.

The sheath is actually lighter green compared to the leaf color. I can't yet tell but the sheath seems quite thin to me. lol

I really do hope there will be some flowers following.

WOW, what a beauty and fragrant to boot. I don't think I have seen one that color that pretty.

And you said you don't do well reflowering Catts. You might have to change that statement. I hope it pops with lots of buds and big, beautiful flowers. That is why we grow them...sometimes they need to be reminded to reward us for our hard work lol

My blind sheaths are always narrow when they come out. Not thin but narrow. Good luck.

I see.
I can only see the tip of the new sheath so I have to give time. I really hope it grows out big.
Almost all the large flowering blc I have seen seem to have this large and wide sheath.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for yours....and mine I got this hybrid in 2011 but it had really poor roots and didn't start growing well till last summer. Right now it has a new growth with a sheath that is developing well. I hope we are both enjoying blooms in a few months!

Wow~ that sounds great!
Yeah, this plant seems to be a very strong grower.
A third eye almost started to develop but then halted. I often get this black coloration on certain dormant eyes. wonder if it's some kind of mild fungal attach because it only seems to attack the eyes but do not spread to other plant parts.

Anyways, how big is your sheath? Yours will bloom before mine as the sheath on mine is barely poking its head above the leaf.
