Hi, my LC Loog Tone 'S.D.' is sending out a sheath from its new growth, but I've started to notice that it has a very red tinge to it. Its this a sign of too much light? Should I be concerned? I've never seen this on a Catt/LC before.
Don't worry, that happens. I've had sheaths that are much darker than that, almost maroon colored. Some sheaths don't stay green long but dry up and turn brown. Buds can still form in them. In any case, just leave it alone and let it do it's thing. I'm sure it'll be fine.
absolutely as tucker says, don't mess with a sheath, it can always decide to put buds out of it....I get a red tinge on sheaths particularly on deep lavender flowers....and I have a lot of sun in the greenhouse, I go for the more intense light for cattleyas, I think they are healthier when they get more light....
