Bought unbloomed awhile back, its first attempt. Not the best form lol, but it is dark. A local breeder requested a pod from it, so I selfed it and should be harvesting the pod in a few more months. (i'm not getting any back) |

Do not judge it by the first flower. Once the plant is stronger, the shape might be better. It is a good tenebrosa.

Agreed. Holds the dorsal well, good colour. Cattleyas often improve with a little age on.

Great color! Be careful of putting pods on first blooming orchids. It can (but not always!) weaken or even kill the plant if it is not big enough. Just wanted to let you know!

Thanks, Isurus, the plant is fair sized in a 6" pot and 4 leads. Big enough I expected more lol but 3 of the leads are since last fall. It tried to bloom last year, but the squirrels took care of that before I took care of the squirrels.
It's held the pod about 6 weeks now, and pod and plant seem to be doing well. Hope the breeder will be happy with it. If I'm reading the charts right, it should have another 6 weeks or so.
