And I hate to mention it, but this is definitely not pure aclandiae. A hybrid with this species in the background perhaps.

yea, I'm fearing this is the case based on the feedback I'm getting...
now I'll have to go out and get another one, gosh...

will be upping the water over the next week to see if I get a response, thx

maybe once the flower is finished & I'm looking for roots.
thx for the feedback

Close enough to aclandiae to not sweat the small stuff. This has a fungal infection. And it started in the roots. If you look at the roots, they are not in great shape. The new pbulb from which this flowered is all that is currently in good shape but even it could be better. Bayer 3/1 is ok but I would get something a little stronger like phyton (?) or cleary's. No need to repot but once you egt this healthy I would water a little more and in it's current state give it less light. Aclandiae have lots of minor variations in the color and patterning. The blemishes on the current foliage will not go away so don't worry about it. The new pbulb and all subsequent foliage is what matters. These are not difficult to grow and flower but watering and calcium are essential.

Yea, roots aren't as robust as I'd like... makes sense the foliage won't automagically return to their former glory :/
Thanks James, sounds like I should bring out the big guns, add a watering or 2 per week & as mentioned above, keep the Ca in my fert rotation.

Very good info from all, thx OB'ers
Much appreciated!

if roots are on top of media they will dry quickly. these orchids roots need lots of water but "must" dry off quickly. doesn't make sense but think about it. it grows in places where there is abundant rainfall mists but lots of wind high in the trees. I've seen these mounted and grown spectacularly. also seen them in bark and looking wonderful.

Would SH work well then? I know it causes evaporative cooling. How warm do they need to be grown?

hi, nice flower,

but it is not a aclandiae

it looks more like a C. guttata hybrid, or a hybrid, but it has no acladiae at all.

C. Leopoldii "mendenhal" possibly. It's close as far as my search went. Close enough culturally to aclandiae
