Encyclia tampensis. What is the secret to blooming???
Default Encyclia tampensis. What is the secret to blooming???

Have had this plant for ages. Its bloomed before, but I didn't do anything special and that was a while ago. Now that is so large and has so many growths, I wanna see some buds! There is a messsss of roots aroundd the back, and there are more growths than I can count.

Looks like it's getting enough sun...and it's big enough to bloom well! As a grower of many encyclias, I would try some blossom booster. I use 10-30-20. BettyE

Guess it needed to be talked about, at least one spike starting.

Mine is a very regular bloomer that hasn't spiked yet either. I think there are very weird climatic forces at work as most of my orchids are off schedule - the Catt species bloomed early, some others, like this one, are blooming late. A plant as well cultivated as yours should have a profusion of spikes and it looks like it's started. Now pray for mine!

Mine was about a month late blooming this year. I attributed it to the overcast weather this spring. Blooming now; a delightful easy care "orchid weed".
