Encyclia cordigera Male
Default Encyclia cordigera

Imported last year, flowering now for the first time.
This species is widespread in dry forests of central and South America and comes in many colour forms. It is easy to grow in a good draining medium with a lot of light and warm temperatures and a dry winter rest.

This is a great species. The colors on that lip are really nice.

Very nice. Mine just won't bloom. How dry is the dry winter rest?

Not too dry. Like the cattleyas in the winter it gets regular spraying on warmer days in the morning, but not heavy watering.
