Laelia purpurata
That's a well known laelia. There are several color versions. This one has blue lip but i did not know the exact clone it is.

The flower you posted is the classic purpurata I have seen in IOSPE but you can go to the Santa Barbara Orchids site to be able to differentiate with the other variations of this kind of orchid.

Hey Sonia, I guess I'll just have to come up and "rescue" it. When did you get it? If you got it right when it was forming that sheath, the change in environment might have caused it to abort the bud primordial so the next pbulbs that form will produce for you. But in any case feel free to give it to me.  |
